This week’s Slough Express features 82 year old Colnbrook resident Vera Riach, who has written about her experiences during the war.

The paper has been running stories to commemorate the 75th anniversary year of the outbreak of World War II.

Vera Riach, of Laburnum Grove, Brands Hill, describes losing her aunt and uncle in a direct attack during the London Blitz in 1941.

Vera has written a book about her family’s history and wartime memories. She told the paper she thinks it important that memories of the Second World War are recorded as her members of her generation ‘won’t be around forever’.
