Burglaries down, but beware the latest trend: number plate theft!

Neighbourhood Police has said that reducing burglaries continues to remain a high priority in Colnbrook throughout May, but that significant improvements have already been seen.  But watch out for your number plate as the latest crime trend hits Colnbrook!

Number Plate Theft
Neighbourhood policing lead PC James Senior reported a “significant” reduction in burglaries in his update to the community this month.

He said local Police are continuing their anti-burglary operations and working with local residents.
“As a result I am pleased to be able to report a significant reduction of a third in non dwelling burglaries with only four reported in April at the time of writing.
Dwelling burglaries also remain low and the team will be working hard to ensure that this remains the case throughout May.  A joint operation with the Metropolitan Police is currently being arranged and criminals using their vehicles to commit crime will be targeted.

As highlighted on these pages, theft from motor vehicles continues to blight the area, and police continue to warn residents not to leave valuables in their vehicles.  However, the recent scourge of diesel thefts from HGVs parked on the Colnbrook Bypass appears to have been stopped, at least for now.
“I am pleased to report that arrests were made following a call from a member of the public resulting in them being charged. Since these arrests we have not had any further similar reports.”
However, beware the latest trend: number plate theft.

Police have advised they are experiencing an increase in the theft of number plates on parked vehicles.
“Your team have been increasing their patrols in key areas and providing crime prevention advice to residents.
