A popular singer from Colnbrook was among the headline acts at Maidenhead’s very own beach festival at the weekend. Mickey Berry, who fronts The Julia Set, played to audiences at this year’s Maidenhead Festival, which arranged for 10 tonnes of sand to create an authentic beach atmosphere.

As plans are finalised for this weekend’s Family Fun Day, the chair of Colnbrook Parish Council, has told the Slough Observer that the Apple Fair “could be back”.

Colnbrook-based Cllr Madhuri Bedi, cabinet member for children, education and families, has spoken of being “continually inspired” by young people in Slough ahead of nominations opening for the 2017 Slough Youth Awards.
A family based in Colnbrook and Ascot ran as a team last weekend, succeeding in raising £2,538 for St John Ambulance. Winston Matthews, 51, from Bridge Street, Colnbrook, ran with his daughters Ruth, 19 and Molly, 21, in the 26 mile London 2017 Virgin Marathon. With Gift Aid on top the family have raised a whopping £3,000.
Say goodbye to the “biggest smiles in the village” as the Battoos end 35 year association with Park Street
The Battoos are ending their 35-year association with Colnbrook after offering a lease on their shop in Park Street. Narinder Singh Battoo and Mohinder Kaur Battoo are set for retirement having run the shop and former post office from 1981. Following the loss of the Post Office in 2015, son Satinder Battoo said the family would still “serve the Biggest Smiles In The Village!!!”.
Cllr Madhuri Bedi from Colnbrook, who represents Foxborough on Slough Borough Council, is looking for dance groups of all nationalities “to showcase their amazing talent through all genres of national dance” in a celebration of the multi cultural diversity of Slough in Slough town centre this Spring.
“Come and have a flutter”, says the Colnbrook Residents’ Association, as it gets set to host its first event of 2017 next month – a Race Night at the Village Hall on Friday, 17th February. Tickets for the event are only £6 for adults or £4 for children under 13.
