Cllr Walsh says free sessions will tackle dementia “hidden in our communities”
Colnbrook’s Cllr James Walsh says free dementia sessions being run by Slough Borough Council will dispel the “myths and misconceptions” surrounding the illness.
From the Slough Express:
Free dementia information sessions are being offered by Slough Borough Council to those who come into contact with people with the condition.
The sessions will be split into two categories, one specifically for businesses to train their staff to spot signs of dementia and one for carers who might be looking after someone with dementia.
Cllr James Walsh, commissioner for health and well-being and Colnbrook ward councillor, said:
For too long dementia has been an illness that has been hidden in our communities. The information sessions we are running will help provide a better understanding of dementia and hopefully dispel some myths and misconceptions surrounding the illness.
Further sessions of dementia training for carers will take place on February 10, from 10am-1pm.
Training for businesses will take place on February 6 and March 4 from 9.30am-12.30pm.
Venues for training will be confirmed upon signing up.
