Colnbrook family raise £3,000 for St John Ambulance

A family from Colnbrook managed to raise nearly £3,000 last weekend for charity by running in the London Marathon.


A family based in Colnbrook and Ascot ran as a team last weekend, succeeding in raising £2,538 for St John Ambulance.  With Gift Aid on top the family have raised a whopping £3,000.

St John Ambulance is the nation’s leading first aid charity, annually training more than 400,000 people in first-aid techniques.

Winston Matthews, 51, from Bridge Street, Colnbrook, ran with his daughters Ruth, 19 and Molly, 21, in the London 2017 Virgin Marathon.


The family’s venture began with a drunken bet between “uber competitive” the sisters while Winston took on the ‘coach’ role.  The family trained hard in the run up to the marathon with a number of big runs before the final 26.2 miles on the 23rd April.
