Colnbrook Primary appoints new head
Colnbrook Primary has announced its new headteacher. Susan Marsh will take over from Jeremy Meek in the New Year.
The school governors of Colnbrook Church of England Primary have announced that Susan Marsh, a member of the school’s senior leadership, will take over as headteacher. The announcement was made at the end of last month.
Mrs Marsh has been promoted from within, having been at the school since January last year. One of three Assistant Headteachers at the school and current Year 6 teacher, she previously worked stints at St.Edmund Campion RC Primary School, All Saints CE Junior School, and St. Luke’s CofE Primary School spanning more than 12 years.
She will lead a staff of nearly 40 and a school now with over 225 pupils.
Outgoing Jeremy Meek has held the post for the last two years since the suspension and subsequent resignation of Janice Brown. Mr Meek will forever be associated with the notorious Mini-Cheddars incident when 6-year old Riley Pearson was excluded from the school but also managed the school’s turnaround following a gaming OFSTED report in 2012. He announced his resignation last month.
We are extremely proud of this achievement and the pupils were an absolute credit to the school on the day
Mrs Marsh takes over at the helm of a school that appears to have completed its transition from special measures to rude health.
On Thursday 13th November the school had a mock inspection with an Ofsted and HMI inspector which gave a glowing report, according to Mr Meek:
“I am delighted to report that the school was awarded good grades under four of the Ofsted inspection areas (achievement of pupils at the school, quality of leadership and management, quality of teaching and behaviour and safety of pupils). The inspector also commented that there were elements of outstanding in the pupils’ behaviour. We are extremely proud of this achievement and the pupils were an absolute credit to the school on the day.”
Colnbrook Primary became part of the Slough & Eton Multi Academy Trust (SEBMAT) last Summer and launched a new website a few months ago. It is currently oversubscribed.
The school holds its Christmas Fair on December 5 and term finishes on December 19. Mrs Marsh takes up her new appointment on January 1.
