Colnbrook resident takes to the streets for third year running to highlight plight of the homeless
A Colnbrook resident has again highlighted the plight of the homeless after finding a man who inspired him to take action last year on the same spot on the same London street one year on.
David West from Crown Meadow has spent a third Christmas helping the homeless on the streets of London, together with friends Kimberly and John.
But in visiting homeless people this Christmas David was shocked to find the same man who had brought him close to tears last Christmas still living in the exact same spot as he found him twelve months ago.
On Sunday, following his visit, he posted:
“So the bloke who inspired us last year and put us all close to tears with his inspiration off life and was on the streets again tonight a year later still as happy as can be may I add not on drugs or alchahol”.
Compadre Kimberly Jane promised to reunite with “our Will” again next Christmas “for a cuppa and cake” if he is still not housed.
David has shared pictures of Will, who is not a priority for housing, on Facebook from this year and last year. As friends on Facebook noted, only the graffiti behind him had changed in a year.
… remember not everyone is lucky enough to sit with there loved 1s on xmas …
Last year David led a trio to raise over £1,500 for charity Crisis by sleeping rough on Christmas Eve and his campaign caught the imagination of friends, family and Colnbrook residents for a second year running. This year’s effort was lower key but David is asking for Facebook friends to share pictures of the homeless, with their permission, so he can build a bigger campaign next Christmas:
“… to all my friends and family who didn’t get to donate but would like to do a bit to help all I ask is that whilst shopping u take a seconed if there is some 1 unfortunately on the streets near u is to buy them a drink or a meal”.
