Dexter Smith is a college lecturer who has lived in Colnbrook over 20 years. Driven by the constant challenges of over-development and under resourcing, he helped to form the Parish Council and spent 5 years as Vice Chairman.

  • Dexter served as a Governor of Pippins School which his boys attended. He was Chairman for 6 years and is currently Vice-Chairman.
  • He stopped the borough council selling off Westfield Hall transferring management to residents.
  • Dexter fought to add a play area to Westfield Hall. This was funded by environmental charity Groundwork Thames Valley where he served on its main board for 6 years and is still on its projects board.
  • Dexter represented Colnbrook with Poyle on Slough Borough Council, from 2000-2008 In his 4 years as Conservative Group Leader. The coalition he was part of improved all frontline council services from “Fair” to being graded “Good”.

As Slough’s Planning and Transport Commissioner, from 2004 to 2008, Dexter introduced new bus services to the ward (75/76, 77/78 and 60/61), added a cycle entrance to Terminal 5 off Longford Roundabout and upgraded street lighting throughout Colnbrook.

Dexter will fight to;

  • Stop the SIFE proposal for a huge warehousing complex and lorry park on Greenbelt land north of the Colnbrook by-pass, and all similar inappropriate develop- ment that gridlocks roads, wors- ens air quality and destroys amenities.
  • Reverse our Labour Council’s us- ing Government grant intended for schools, to pay for their pet projects like useless self- promoting advertising campaign “the Heart of Slough is beating”.
  • Fill the vacuum left by the clo- sure of the Slough campus of Thames Valley University (which the Labour Council has allowed without protest) so that appropri- ate higher education courses are available where the average Slough resident earns 20% less than the average person working in Slough.
  • End waste and inefficiency at Slough Borough Council, and see a fair share of Council spending in Colnbrook.

    Well done Dexter!

    You got the votes of the Brennans in Dawley Ride.

    Notwithstanding SIFE etc, will you promote Colnbrook merging with Windsor & Maidenhead Council as our parish councillors suggest?

    We, along with many other people, feel Slough is the preverbal dump. We shop/visit Staines, Windsor and Uxbridge – never the DSS capital of Berkshire.

    And, please arrange for the riddance of the hoarding at the junction of Coleridge/Rodney erected by some miffed nonce!
