Council and police move ‘Light and Life’ travellers on from Upton Court Park

From the Slough Express:

Most of the travellers who pitched up at Upton Court Park after leaving a Christian Festival in Langley have now left.

After the Light and Life event, which was held on the corner of Parlaunt Road and Market Lane in Langley, finished on Saturday, many of the travellers pitched their caravans at the West Wing in Stoke Road.

Police and Slough Borough Council are at the park trying to move on the final stragglers.

A section 61 notice was served yesterday afternoon giving the travellers until 9am today to leave the park.

After the Light and Life event, which was held on the corner of Parlaunt Road and Market Lane, finished on Saturday, many of the travellers pitched their caravans at the West Wing in Stoke Road before moving on to Upton Court Park on Sunday.

1,000 attended event

Thames Valley reported very heavy congestion from the start of the event last Monday morning.  The Christian festival for travellers, called the Light and Life Festival, was unannounced to residents in the Langley area and initially caused chaotic scenes.

Police laid on additional resources to patrol the area to help with policing the event which was expected to be attended by around 1,000 people.
