Datchet brings out the crowds for Jubilee Street Party
Never to be out done, the crowds thronged to Datchet for a Jubilee Street Party on the village green yesterday.
In what looks set to have been the best of the weekend’s weather, a packed street party brought local roads to a standstill and a great party atmosphere.
The celebration included the unveiling of a plaque on the Jubilee Cross, the planting of an English Oak on The Green, and the burying of a time capsule within the Parish boundary.
The event included a Tea Party, Fancy Dress competition, bouncy castle, and magician for the kids. For the older generation there was a beer tent and live music. A hog roast was completely sold out by early afternoon!
The Royal British Legion and Datchet Parish Council who jointly organised the event must have been thrilled with the turnout.
Colnbrook’s turn is next. While the Star & Garter had its Jubilee celebration yesterday, The Ostrich and Punch Bowl go head to head today with rival events both featuring live music. With the inclement weather will Colnbrook see the same crowds?
