Datchet Parish Council has informed Colnbrook Parish Council that it will end its contract to provide clerk and office services at the end of May.

Clerk Katy Jones informed parish councillors ten days ago of the decision not to continue with current arrangement when it comes up for renewal at the end of May 2017, stating this was “primarily” due to office restructuring at Datchet.

The link-up has only been running since the Summer of 2014, since long-standing clerk Roland Hewson retired, but changes to the staffing at Datchet have put pressure on the arrangement. In 2015 Katy Jones was made parish clerk at Datchet following Graham Lever’s retirement. Now its Finance Assistant, Val Hibbard, is also retiring and Mrs Jones will be taking on extra hours for Datchet.

The cost to the parish of the Datchet tie-in has steadily increased over the last few years, with the budget rising from £9,800 in 2015/2016 to £13,900 in 2017/2018, or from 9.9% to 14.6% of total budget.

Councillors voted a unanimous vote of thanks to Mrs Jones.
