Final tribute to K Laxman raises £500 for Cancer Research
An online appeal in honour of the late ‘K’ Laxman, who passed away this Summer, has managed to raise nearly £500 for charity.
In a fitting final tribute to former parish councillor ‘K’ Laxman, who died in August after a long battle with cancer, an online charity appeal for Cancer Research UK has succeeded in raising £465 including Gift Aid.
The JustGiving appeal, launched by ex-parish chair Peter Hood, was set up two months ago to mark the end of a twenty year friendship with “one of the most admired and loved persons in our village”.
In setting up the appeal Mr Hood paid tribute to K’s contribution to the village:
“He suffered with Cancer for many years and was very ill for most of them but he never complained. He just got on with life. He was a great community man and was awarded with the National Community Pharmacy Trophy of the year in 2013. In 2014 he was made an Honorary Freeman of the Parish in which he worked and served as a Parish Councillor. We will so miss this man. Please help us fight cancer.”
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. It is entirely funded by the public.
