In November 2010 when asked to endorse the newly formed stopSIFE campaign set up by the Colnbrook Community Association, the Parish Council refused to do so on the grounds it was an independent organisation that could damage its reputation by association.

Six months later chairman Peter Hood attacked the “vulgar” banners, asking if they could be removed at the height of the campaign.

Since then the parish has given its unequivocal support to the apparently independent Colnbrook Residents Association, featuring its initiatives in parish newsletters, and trumpeting its successes as its own at the AGM – while lamenting the perceived criticism of its inaction against SIFE.

    Why the mixed messages?
