IN PICTURES: Opening of Pippins Park Herb Garden
Local newspapers have all published photographs this weekend of the successful celebrity opening of the Pippins Park Herb Garden last Friday.
First installed in 2012 by Slough Borough Council, the new herb garden was re-opened last Friday (6 May) following the tireless efforts of Joanne Doyle and a team of volunteers. They helped to completely transform the garden, tidying it up and stripping out the original overgrown plants, and replacing them with fresh new herbs and flowers.
Slough’s mayor Cllr Mohammed Rasib officially opened the Garden while TV celebrity Chris Bavin, a familiar face since appearing on the BBC programme Eat Well for Less, made a guest appearance. Pupils at Pippins School ended their day at Pippins Park to celebrate the event.
Residents are being encouraged to help themselves to fresh herbs from the garden to spruce up their own cooking. Apple trees and raspberries have already been planted while tomatoes and sweat peas are due to be planted this week.
