Kanwar Kahlon: “no extravagant claims just continued relentless action”
Colnbrook Views has invited all three candidates for the Colnbrook with Poyle ward to set out their campaign objectives and manifesto on these pages. Here, Kanwar Kahlon, Conservative Candidate for Colnbrook with Poyle, sets out his views.
I was raised in Colnbrook and have lived on the Westfield Estate for over 20 years. It fills me with pride to have been raised here with so much history on our doorstep. However, pride has been replaced by a growing frustration because Colnbrook is being poorly served by Slough Borough Council.
Surrounded by green belt, with its conservation area, its character and sense of community Colnbrook is rare and unique and worthy of protection. Labour-run Slough Borough Council has failed to protect Colnbrook against over-development, traffic congestion, air and environmental pollution. This is profoundly evident with the incinerator, gravel pits, land fill and the threatened SIFE (Slough Intermodal Freight Exchange). I want to do something to tackle these and other issues such as fly tipping, derelict garages & other neglected areas, high council tax, burglaries, anti-social behaviour, parking and general lack of services for all.
If elected I am determined to work tirelessly alongside our Conservative councillor Dexter Smith for all the residents of Colnbrook & Poyle who have been ignored and neglected by Slough Borough Council.
When you vote in the 3rd May borough elections, please vote for a local councillor and remember I am the only candidate who not only lives amongst you but was raised here. If elected I will speak up for Colnbrook and bring new ideas and fresh enthusiasm in shaping the future of our local community. I will ensure that together we get the very best for those who live here by making sure that local community interests are taken into account and residents get the services they need.
Council Tax in Slough is high compared to Windsor & Maidenhead where the Conservative Council has shown how spending can be controlled whilst protecting services. I pledge to campaign for greater prudence and better financial management in Slough Borough Council so that council tax is not only frozen but decreased. It’s my moral duty!
Vote for me, and let me make a difference. No extravagant claims just continued relentless action.
