Mystery buyer purchases much-loved pub

There is uncertainty once again over the future of The Bull in Iver after a community buy-out failed at Christmas.

A mystery buyer has purchased The Bull after a bid from the campaign group set up to save it for the community was turned down.

The pub was listed as a Community Asset in the summer, under the new rights in the Localism Act 2011, but its listing expired at the end of 2013.

Punch Taverns, its previous owner, has now sold the pub and new owners will take over next week.  But it is not clear yet if it will maintained as a community pub.

The ‘Save the Bull’ group, which raised a staggering £50,000 to buy the pub, refuses to dissolve itself until the real position is clear, telling the Slough Express:

We may still have to rely on your support in other ways should the new owners not wish to run the Bull as a viable and friendly local pub for the community, long term.  If possible we will work with them to introduce the community aspects of our plans through the new owners.
