Parish Council could fund threatened Colnbrook-Staines bus service
Colnbrook Parish Council will consider putting funds towards keeping the threatened 305 bus service running to ensure that local children can get to secondary schools in Staines.
Chair Cllr Scott Bryant has proposed to fellow councillors that the Parish Council should consider making a funding contribution to the 305 Colnbrook to Staines bus service, should its funding be pulled at the end of March.
Cllr Bryant made his comments at the last full meeting of the Parish Council two weeks ago, after being alerted to the situation by a resident via email.
Clerk Katie Jones has confirmed that the parish council has under the Local Government and Rating Act 1997, section 26, Transport Act 1985, section 106A.
Following discussion councillors agreed that the clerk should get more information from the Royal Borough and the bus company as to the level of funding required and any statistics on the number of Colnbrook users of the 305 service.
Slough Borough Council will also be approached for funding in view of the “vital link to schools”.
A report will be prepared for consideration at a future Parish Council meeting.
