Poyle companies AGAIN take top prize in Slough Business of the Year Awards
There were big wins for local companies again at Thursday night’s Slough Business Awards 2016 with Poyle based companies again taking the top prize.
The second Slough Business Awards took place on Thursday night (17th March) with Colnbrook with Poyle based companies again taking a sweep of awards.
And for the second year running local businesses have been named Business of the Year!
Blackthorne International Transport, based in the Trident Industrial Estate on Blackthorne Road, and wnDirect based in Millbrook Way, Riverside Park, in the Poyle Trading Estate, appear from the Twittersphere to have shared the top award of Best Business in Slough.
Blackthorne specialises in delivering all types of cargo to Russia. The company, which claims to have a few Russian oligarch’s among its clients, has offices Poyle and Moscow.
wnDirect helps retailers ‘go global’, offering tailored eCommerce solutions. wnDirect aslo won a second award for innovation.
Last year local company Wilson & Scott took the top prize.
Other Colnbrook based businesses nominated for awards included the Holiday Inn Express.
The awards which showcase the best of 18,000 companies based in the borough were again hosted by the Hilton Terminal 5 at Poyle, a silver sponsor of the event. Keynote speeches were delivered by Clare Harbord, Corporate Affairs Director at Heathrow Airport, and Rob Anderson, Leader of Slough Borough Council.
And to prove the town isn’t afraid of poking fun at itself, Tim Oliver, a David Brent lookalike, hosted the event.
