Residents asked to register their interest in a Colnbrook Medical Centre

The Slough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is carrying out a survey to find out the level of support locally for a new medical centre based in the village.

The CCG, the group that is responsible for providing local NHS services, says it would be interested to know how many patients would wish to register with a new Medical Centre located in the heart of Colnbrook.

While the old Colnbrook surgery, which closed in February after a significant rent increase, was operated as a branch surgery by Langley Health Centre, the CCG says the new centre would be part of the CCG but operated separately from other GP practices.  Its priority would be Colnbrook residents but it would also serve nearby areas.

In January, Dr Nazaff Adam, managing partner at Langley, had said the practice was committed to finding alternative premises in Colnbrook to reopen.

However, since the CCG has not publicised the survey on its consultation portal and HealthWatch Slough, the consumer champion for local NHS services, also appears to be unaware of the survey, response to the survey could be limited.  The Parish Council is asking residents to to visit the Colnbrook Pharmacy to sign a petition, while the CCA has promised to try an provide an online version.

In January, after confirming the branch closure, CCG chair Dr Jim O’Donnell asked for patient feedback to be monitored “along with the monitoring of any significant events which may occur out of this situation at a 6 monthly interval” so that the impact on residents could be assessed.

The CCG will be discuss a Colnbrook practice at its next meeting in July.

Update, 4th May 2017: The Clinical Commissioning Group has asked Colnbrook Views to clarify that that they have not initiated this survey and it is nothing to do with them. They have asked the Parish Council to change the poster publicising the petition on their website as it misleadingly suggests it has their backing. The CCG is aware of the Parish Council’s survey and has said they would be interested to learn the result but is in no way connected with it.
