Say goodbye to the “biggest smiles in the village” as the Battoos end 35 year association with Park Street
The Battoos are ending their 35-year association with Colnbrook after offering a lease on their shop in Park Street.
New tenants are being sought for the Battoos’ shop and former post office on Park Street, ending a long association with Colnbrook for its current owners who are ready to retire.
Narinder Singh Battoo and Mohinder Kaur Battoo ran the post office from 1981 until the reorganisation of Post Office services in March 2015 when the Post Office moved up the road to the Budgens store. In 2002 Narinder was awarded the Colnbrook Community Cup for his contribution to the village.
While there were concerns that the loss of the Post Office would make the tiny shop non-viable, the Battoos responded by diversifying into other areas.
Despite covering just 700 square feet the shop currently sells wine, beer, cigarettes and tobacco, confectionery, stationary, greeting cards, soft drinks, slush, children’s books, magazines, greeting cards, Oyster tickets, frozen goods, a photocopying and fax service, and even ‘learn a language’ CD-Roms!
The Battoos believe the shop could go even further in the future given its location:
“… there is a huge potential to increase the turnover in this vibrant and busy village only two miles from Heathrow!”
The lease is priced at £25,000 and is being marketed through Gumtree.
