Sports clubs urged to apply for share of £100,000 pot

From the Windsor Observer:

SPORTS clubs have been invited to apply for a share of £100,000. Get Berkshire Active, the county sports partnership, has announced it has the six-figure sum to distribute to projects across Berkshire during 2013 as part of the national Sportivate programme.

Funding is open to sport and physical activity projects that last between 6-8 weeks and target 14-25 year olds.

Kirsty Heath, Get Berkshire Active’s partnership development coordinator, says it’s a fantastic opportunity to engage young people with sport.

She said:

“Last year we funded over 80 projects across the county and we are hoping to match that or even better it in 2013.

Sportivate has been a tremendous success and we really want to hear from people wanting funding to help get young people involved in sport – particularly to encourage those who wouldn’t typically get involved.

That is what Sportivate is all about – getting young people interested in sport and physical activity, and maintaining that interest.”

The deadline for applying for the first round of funding is at 5pm on January 23.
