Slough Borough Council officers are struggling to cope with an unusually high number of code-of-conduct complaints against councillors in the last six months – with two made by members of Colnbrook with Poyle Parish Council.
A former Colnbrook with Poyle ward councillor has been cleared of benefit fraud at Guildford Crown Court following a two day trial. Cllr Steven Burkmar was accused of dishonestly failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions of a change of circumstances that affected his entitlement to an £8,000 benefit payment.
Eddy Elum-Smith has tonight hit out at the disinformation campaign against him, aiming both barrels squarely at current chair of the Parish Council and fellow candidate Peter Hood.
Suggestions of a rapprochement between the Parish Council and CCA may be premature. Despite the agreement of the Parish to fund a CCA initiative, CCA secretary Cllr Charles Burke received a blasting from colleagues … and a call for him to resign.
Ex-Councillor Jarrett has confirmed he has submitted a Code of Conduct complaint to Slough Borough Council. The request could plunge the council into special measures with taxpayers paying the cost of any investigation.
The Slough Observer has revealed this week that FIVE serving councillors have been ditched by the Labour party, and will not be eligible to stand in next year’s election. The current and former mayor are among those deselected.
The Mayor of Slough has apologised after breaking council rules.
Colnbrook Views has learned that no less than SEVEN frivolous complaints have been made against Councillor Charles Burke by fellow parish councillors in an unseemly dispute that has caused Slough Borough Council to intervene … and that the taxpayer will meet the cost of any further complaints.
Further to a complaint received regarding “inaccuracies relating to Parish Council Member code of conduct issues” published on Colnbrook Views, from Kevin Gordon, Assistant Director Professional Services of Slough Borough Council, and in discussion with CCA Chair Vicki Brenner, Colnbrook Views would issue a correction to matters reported relating to Cllr Peter Hood.
