Slough Borough Council will make a decision on the future of Colnbrook Parish Council by the end of the year. The first phase of a Community Governance Review closed on Friday and it will spend the Summer deliberating before a further consultation in November.
The Parish Council’s new leadership have commited the council to a new spirit of openness and transparency in the way it engages with the community. The new leadership of Colnbrook Parish Council says it wants to engage more with residents, community groups, Slough Borough Council, and neighbouring authorities.
Cllr Burke apologises as Parish insists it has not kept residents in the dark over Brands Hill or Heathrow
A very public spat appears to have erupted between Councillor Charles Burke and his Parish Council colleagues – over the Brands Hill debacle. Cllr Burke has posted an apology – of sorts – on Streetlife, where he has previously accused the Parish of keeping residents in the dark over discussions with Slough Borough Council over the botched roadworks.
There will be no by-election for the Parish Council vacancy after all it seems, although no official announcement has been made yet.
Voters in Britwell and Wexham Court have given their Parish Councils a big thumbs down. Results of the referendums on abolition proposals in those parishes saw only 14.5% and 11.4% respectively of those eligible vote in favour of keeping their council.
Suggestions of a rapprochement between the Parish Council and CCA may be premature. Despite the agreement of the Parish to fund a CCA initiative, CCA secretary Cllr Charles Burke received a blasting from colleagues … and a call for him to resign.
Residents have until November 27 to declare their interest in holding a by-election for Colnbrook with Poyle Parish Council.
Ex-Councillor Jarrett has confirmed he has submitted a Code of Conduct complaint to Slough Borough Council. The request could plunge the council into special measures with taxpayers paying the cost of any investigation.
