A local haulier has hit out at Slough Borough Council’s proposals to introduce HGV restrictions on Poyle Road ahead of the end of its consultation on three options this Friday.
A consultation on revised proposals to block Poyle Road to HGVs begins today and runs for 4 weeks. The move follows criticism of the earlier scheme to ban trucks and install a bus gate and now includes 2 additional options that involve keeping either the northbound or southbound carriageway open to HGVs. Doing nothing is not an option, the Council says, as there is a pollution and road safety consideration as traffic levels increase.
Slough’s proposal to build a bus gate on Poyle Road has NOT been scrapped as claimed by a parish councillor earlier this month. Slough says officers are currently working on scheme options following the public consultation in the autumn and a decision has not yet been made.
