Teddy Bear Picnic is CRA’s first event under new chair Sean Kelly
The Colnbrook Residents Association held a Teddy Bear’s Picnic last month in the Quiet Garden of St Thomas’ Church, the first event since new chair Sean Kelly took over the reigns.
While “crossed wires and a misunderstanding” meant the entertainer never arrived, an impromptu programme of games, competitions and races went ahead that was, by all accounts, thoroughly enjoyed by children and adults:
“Wow, what a great time we had at the Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Saturday.”
According to the CRA, Molly Ayres won a giant monkey which was the prize for the best dressed Teddy, while Jersey Walker won the ‘Name the Teddy’ competiton. The children enjoyed a picnic and donated cakes.
The success of the event, the first under the new stewardship of new chair Sean Kelly, means it is likely to be run again.
Kelly was elected chair at the CRA’s AGM in July. Cllr David MacDougald, chair of the CRA since it was restarted in 2011, stepped down in July. The change means, for the first time, a parish councillor wont be at the helm.
Cllr MacDougald was apparently forced to take a back seat in this year’s prize-giving ceremonies for local schoolchildren, a longstanding role he had cherished, shortly before his resignation.
The new committee has given the CRA its first web presence. The association now has a Facebook page which it uses to publicise its social events, located at: www.facebook.com/ColnbrookResidentsAssociation.
