Trial date set for alleged burglary accomplice in Colnbrook shooting

The trial date has been set for the alleged accomplice in the burglary last month that left a man shot dead in a Colnbrook wood.

Anthony Hearn, 48, of Moreland Close, Colnbrook, will face trial at Reading Crown Court on Monday, 27th November.

Hearn was arrested and later following the fatal shooting of 48-year-old, Wayne Digby, from Slough, who is alleged to have attempted to break into a caravan shared by Reuben Gregory and his sister on Monday, 12th June.  He was charged with aggravated burglary after being identified as Digby’s alleged accomplice, a charge he denies.

A post mortem identified the cause of death as a shotgun wound to the abdomen.  72-year-old Mr Gregory was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the shooting, off the Colnbrook By-pass.

Mr Gregory was granted bail, which was renewed on July 11.  He must next answer bail on September 12.
