Windsor Link Railway steps up to rival WRaTH
The company behind the Windsor Link Railway has upped the stakes, hoping to pitch Windsor & Maidenhead against Slough Borough Council in support of rival rail schemes.
Windsor Link Railway submitted a vision statement and pre-planning application to Windsor & Maidenhead Council on February 13.
It hopes that Windsor & Maidenhead will incorporate the scheme into the emerging Borough Local Plan and provide political support – although George Bathurst, the man behind the project, says no public money is sought.
If successful it will place Windsor at odds with Slough Borough Council which favours the rival WRaTH scheme.
The WLR is on the agenda for the full council meeting on March 25.
The team behind the Central Windsor Neighbourhood Plan, one of ten Neighbourhood Plans being prepared across Windsor & Maidenhead, is strongly backing the scheme.
Once feedback is received on the pre-planning application from Windsor & Maidenhead the WLR says it will publish the proposal on its website. Direct feedback to the Council on the Local Plan is possible until 7 March.
